The recently finished Saka Bridge, which cost Shs72 billion and was intended to promote transportation and trade between the districts of Pallisa and Kaliro, has been put into service by the government.

It is anticipated that the bridge, which spans the River Mpologoma and links the Bukedi and Busoga regions, will facilitate travel for locals and businesses and provide access to local markets, schools, and medical facilities.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s representative at the commissioning, First Deputy Prime Minister Rebecca Kadaga, described the project as a strategic investment meant to open up economic potential in Eastern Uganda.
“This bridge will increase business activity for the residents of Bukedi and Busoga and improve access to Pallisa Town Council and surrounding areas,” Kadaga stated.
The Shs72 billion project was constructed by Arab Contractors and is part of the government’s broader plan to enhance regional infrastructure and reduce transport costs for rural communities.
Local leaders and residents hailed the bridge as a long-overdue project that will open up the region to trade and ease access to public services. The structure is expected to reduce travel time between Pallisa and Kaliro and improve the movement of goods and people across the two districts.
