Kasese Airport is set to be upgraded to international standards following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Gen. Katumba Wamala of the Ministry of Works and Transport and China State Engineering Construction Company. The Chinese firm will pre-finance the airport’s construction and will first review the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority’s master plan before developing the airport designs. Once complete, the upgraded facility is expected to significantly boost trade and tourism in the Rwenzori region.
