On Wednesday, she participated in a panel discussion at the GITEX 2023 Global Digital Summit in Makarrech, Morocco, on the subject of “uniting towards one African digital market.”
The summit introduces Africa’s largest tech and start-up event with over 900 firms, including entrepreneurs from Uganda, to explore, discover, and connect to actual prospects in the expanding global digital economy.
Aziz Akhannouch, the head of government for Morocco, challenged key players from the whole global and African tech ecosystem to support audacious digital transformation initiatives in the world’s expanding innovation economy while presiding over the opening ceremony.
GITEX Africa 2023, which will feature more than 100 participating government organizations from 80 different nations, will also serve as a launchpad for several investment commitments and announcements of public-private partnerships, accelerating the continent’s aspirations for digital transformation.
At the inauguration ceremony, Akhannouch spoke alongside dignitaries and ministers from all over the world and Africa, including H.E. Omar Sultan Al Olama, the UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Sidi Mohammed Drissi Melyani, the General Director of the Moroccan Digital Development Agency, and Chakib Alj, the President of The General Confederation of Moroccan Entrepreneurs.
“Digital technology has become an essential and unprecedented lever for economic development both internationally and in the African continent in particular,” Akhannouch said. “This is in light of the economic turmoil and profound transformations the world is witnessing today.”
In this regard, GITEX Africa is an opportunity to highlight the promising potential of the African continent and its accelerated efforts in developing talents and skills in the fields of technology and innovation, he continued. “Africa has worked increasingly to consolidate its position as a dynamic environment that supports innovation,” he said.
Dr. Ghita Mezzour, the Moroccan minister of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, stated: “We are witnessing a historic event, the largest tech networking and business event in the African continent.”
