The Uganda Railways Corporation Board Has Added Eng. Benjamin Olobo to its Membership

Gen. Katumba Wamala, the Minister of Works and Transport, has named Eng. Benjamin Olobo to the Uganda Railways Corporation (URC) Board. With this position, Eng. Olobo replaces Eng. Robert Kafeero Sekitoleko, who has moved up to become the organization's Chief Mechanical Engineer.

With a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Civil Engineering from Makerere University, an MBA from Heriot-Watt University, an MSc in Highway Engineering and Management from the University of Birmingham, and an MSc in Finance and Economic Policy from the University of London, among other postgraduate degrees, Eng. Olobo brings a wealth of experience in the field of civil engineering.

With more than 15 years of experience, Eng. Olobo has proven his ability to provide thorough technical and consultancy solutions for major transportation infrastructure projects in West Europe, the South Pacific Islands, and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Under the direction of the Ministry of Works and Transport, Uganda Railways Corporation (URC) functions as a corporate organization. URC was established in line with the Uganda Railways Corporation Act, Cap 331. Its mission is to move people and products both domestically and internationally by road, rail, and marine.

With 1,266 kilometers of track, URC has a vast network that makes it easier to move people and products around the nation quickly and effectively.
