SafeBoda Uganda has formally introduced its EV Tier within the SafeBoda App, marking a significant step towards a more environmentally friendly future.

This innovative project solidifies SafeBoda’s status as a leader in sustainable urban mobility solutions and heralds a paradigm change in Uganda’s transportation industry toward e-mobility and sustainability.

“At SafeBoda, we are committed to driving positive change in Uganda’s transport landscape,” said Rob Sanford, CEO of the company, in articulating the company’s aim for a more sustainable transport ecosystem. The EV Tier program is a manifestation of our commitment to advancing e-mobility and addressing climate change.

Sanford highlighted how the EV Tier may empower users of Electric Bodas and increase passenger awareness of environmental issues. “We are not only providing sustainable transportation options but also creating opportunities for social and economic development,” he continued, speaking of the empowerment of EV Boda riders.

Because of SafeBoda’s strategic alliances with top EV producers, riders are guaranteed access to a wide selection of electric cars. To help its rider community make a smooth transition to e-mobility, the company is also offering extensive support, such as maintenance advice and access to charging station locations.

The Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Hon. Dr. Monica Musenero, praised SafeBoda for its creative strategy in advancing sustainability and e-mobility.

“EV Tier is a major step towards realizing Uganda’s vision of a cleaner, more sustainable future,” she said. Such initiatives are essential to furthering our efforts in the direction of sustainable development and environmental conservation.

Vice President of SafeBoda’s Payments & Driver Wellbeing, Christian Mayeku Wamambe, emphasized the passengers’ financial advantages with the Electric Boda Tier.

“The tier launch is a strategy to protect and increase driver incomes,” he said. In 2022, fuel prices almost doubled, and they haven’t decreased much since. Drivers can switch to electric bodas and boost their income by connecting with SafeBoda consumers through the EV tier.

Wamambe emphasized the significant financial benefits of using electric bodas, pointing out that operators can provide customers with a more economical mode of transportation while saving over 30% on gasoline.

Executives from SafeBoda have encouraged all users of electric bodas to embrace the EV Tier and its ability to bring about positive change. By means of this innovative endeavor, SafeBoda is not only revolutionizing Uganda’s transportation environment but also spearheading the progress towards a sustainable future that benefits all.
