Industry participants are upbeat about the possible advantages as the first shipment is ready to travel to Uganda because Vivo Energy has signed a sales and buy agreement with the Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) to supply gasoline and diesel.

The decision is being made at a crucial juncture, as the nation looks to optimize its fuel supply system and guarantee steady access to gasoline and diesel for both enterprises and consumers.

It is anticipated that the deal between Vivo Energy and UNOC will improve Uganda’s fuel distribution system’s dependability and efficiency.

The deal was verified by Geoffrey Elyenu, Supply and Distribution Manager at Vivo Energy, who also mentioned that UNOC will be in charge of figuring out the starting price per liter.

Fuel firms are required by this strategic collaboration to acquire all of their fuel from UNOC, guaranteeing a uniform pricing structure and possibly stabilizing fuel prices nationwide.

Just like all the other oil importers in Uganda, we have signed contracts. With UNOC, we have contracts in place that ensure supplies,” Elyenu stated.

“UNOC will supply us with 100% of our diesel and petrol.”

Elyenu pointed out that the pricing set by UNOC will determine whether they are excessive or low.

The agreement intends to promote increased market efficiency and transparency by unifying the gasoline supply under UNOC, which will ultimately benefit end users.

As the first fuel deliveries happen, more information about the agreement’s pricing structure and long-term effects should become available.

With almost a century of research and development experience, Shell is a global leader in fuel innovation. Vivo Energy experts emphasized Shell’s distinctive attributes.

According to Elyenu, Vivo Energy Uganda maintains stringent quality standards at every point of their supply chain.

“From product shipping to our entire network of Shell stations, we make sure that quality control is upheld at every stage,” the speaker stated.

Their commitment guarantees that their customers receive only the best goods and services.

Kennedy Ggwanga, HSSEQ Manager, stated, “Our dedication to reaching and maintaining the highest international Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) standards is at the heart of our business and is a key differentiator for Vivo Energy in Africa.”

“Sitting separate from our broader goals is not an objective; becoming the best in HSSE is part of that. It is a crucial and indispensable component of our business strategy,” he continued.

In order to provide the media crew a better knowledge of the fuel quality and supply chain procedures, they were later given a tour of the Tank Farm depot.

The team got the chance to speak with Quality Fuels Laboratory lab technicians Lawrence Wavamunno and Dinah Nalubega during their visit.

They provide information on important aspects of quality, such as product receipt protocols, regular sample collection, quality testing, fuel addition methods, and mobile laboratory functioning, among other things.

A tour of the Shell Gas filling plant was also provided to the media team, highlighting the quality controls and procedures that are in place from the time that Shell Gas cylinders are received until they are distributed to customers.
