The prestigious International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Certification ceremony, which was presided over by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development Ruth Nankabirwa Ssentamu, was held at the Kampala Serena Hotel, marked a significant milestone for the Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Ltd (UETCL).

Dr. Nankabirwa stressed the strategic importance of UETCL receiving ISO certification, stressing effective power usage and Uganda’s aspirations to exchange power with its neighbors. In addition to the current links with Kenya and Rwanda, it was announced that electricity transmission lines would be extended to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Tanzania, and South Sudan.

The government’s pursuit of operational excellence and improved service delivery was echoed in Dr. Nankabirwa’s demand for effective communication and unity.

The team’s unwavering efforts that resulted in ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certification were praised by Mr. Joshua Karamagi, CEO of UETCL. He outlined the benefits, including increased customer satisfaction and operational efficiency, of the rigorous alignment of operations to international standards.

Mr. Karamagi underlined UETCL’s dedication to following international best practices in order to offer Uganda and the surrounding area with reliable, sustainable electricity. Plans for upcoming ISO certifications in energy systems, environmental management, safety, and health were made public.

In the eyes of customers, clients, and other business partners, the certificate establishes legitimacy and confidence. Such a certificate confirms that a company complies with international norms for quality assurance, manufacturing, and business in today’s global economy.
