Minister of Health Dr. Jane Ruth Achieng underlined the need of lowering imports by encouraging producers of medical equipment to set up production facilities within Uganda during the Ugandan Pharma Health Care exhibition held at UMA showgrounds.
Dr. Achieng encouraged land-seeking investors to use the industrial parks located all throughout the nation to produce medical supplies on the home front.
More than 120 producers and importers of medical equipment attended the show, which included participants from Bangladesh, Kenya, Italy, the United Arab Emirates, India, and Kenya.
The goal of the organizers, which included Vijayanka Brighuvanshi, was to display the newest technology and tools that are essential for the medical industry.
Upender Singh Rawat, the representative of the Indian High Commission to Uganda, emphasized the importance of the expo in fostering greater economic and healthcare cooperation between India and Uganda.
The executive director of UMA, Dr. Ezra Rubanda, stressed the importance of boosting funding for regional production of medical goods. With 1,500 members, UMA currently counts about 40 medical supply manufacturers among its members.
