The collapsed Kabale-Kisoro road is now being repaired, according to UNRA’s public relations officer, who confirmed this over the phone with Sempebwa Allan. He said they had been able to secure a contractor through Creystone Investment Limited. The repair will cost more than Shs 3.7 billion, he adds.

Sempebwa goes on to say that they are optimistic that it will take those four months to finish the repairs.
Locals in Rubanda District claim that the road’s collapse has posed a serious threat to their lives after recently witnessing more than two incidents. Locals praised UNRA for beginning the road construction but asked it to go more quickly.

The early-year rains severely damaged most of the roadways and resulted in fatalities.
Since its collapse in May, the Kabale-Kisoro road has not seen construction for more than five months.
