Uganda Starts An Effort To Improve Road Safety Along The Northern Corridor

With the aim of reducing accidents on the Northern Corridor Road network and enhancing overall road safety, the campaign is being carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Works and Transport (MoWT), Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA), Uganda National Transporters Association (UNTA), Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU), and the Uganda Police Force.

While presenting the performance report for the fiscal year 2022–2023, UNRA Executive Director Allen Kagina stated that they have increased Uganda’s national road network by 254.5km in the financial year 2022–2023, bringing the total paved stock to 6,133km.

Relieved, Buses May Once Again Cross Katonga Bridge.

According to UNRA, the bridge was given the all-clear for buses to begin using it after ongoing technical monitoring and a recent evaluation, which determined that it can support loading of up to 30 tonnes.

UNRA began operations as an organization in July 2008 and has been in operation for 15 years. The institution is in charge of constructing, maintaining, and running the national road network, as well as advising the government on road policy matters and assisting in the coordination and implementation of road policies.

Municipalities Listed On The USMID Road Project

The government intends to roll out the extension of this program between 2024 and 2029, Ms. Judith Nabakooba, the minister of lands, said, with the goal of ensuring that more municipalities are developed.
