With flights scheduled three times each week, Uganda Airlines has established a direct link to Lagos, the largest city in Nigeria.

The airline will begin flying to Lagos every Sunday, Monday, and Thursday as of today, October 19, 2023.

According to a press statement from the airline dated October 19, 2023, the development came about as a result of obtaining Ugandan and Nigerian aviation authorities’ licenses.

The largest and fastest-growing metropolis in the world is Lagos, which is located in Nigeria. It is known for its busy markets, scenic beaches, and dynamic music and entertainment scenes. It is a major economic and cultural hub in West Africa.

Last Monday, the airline announced the beginning of direct flights between Entebbe International Airport in Uganda and Lagos, Nigeria’s Murtala Muhammed International Airport. For the first time ever, an aircraft will link the two nations.

Adedayo Olawuyi, chief commercial officer of Uganda Airlines, claimed that Nigeria, the continent’s largest economy, required a carrier like Uganda Airlines for easier travel and smooth passenger connectivity.

The airline’s chief executive officer, Jennifer Bamuturaki, is quoted as saying in the release that Nigeria is the continent’s largest economy and that Uganda is the best connection point between East, West, North, and Southern Africa due to its central location on the continent. For our guests who are ending their journeys in Uganda and those who may wish to continue their journeys within our network to Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, Kilimanjaro, Mombasa, Juba, Bujumbura, Kinshasa, Dubai, Mogadishu, or Johannesburg and Mumbai, the direct flights will result in significant time savings.

Bamuturaki stated on October 13, 2023, that the launch seeks to increase effectiveness and speed up both the movement of goods and people between the two countries.

She claims that by adding a direct flight between Uganda Airlines and Nigeria, the airline’s network will be expanded throughout Africa in addition to shortening the distance between the two nations.

It used to take nine to twelve hours with just one layover for someone to go from Uganda to Nigeria or vice versa.

Travel time has been reduced to just four hours as a result of the launch of this direct route, which is a substantial gain in convenience for both leisure and business passengers.

Tourists now have the opportunity to fly nonstop between Uganda and Nigeria for the first time thanks to the introduction of direct flights between the two countries.

In August 2019, Uganda Airlines started running commercial flights again after 20 years of inactivity. At 12 different locations, the plane has so far been successful in getting permission to land.
