Ugandan Cabinet Orders That All Official Travel Be Made On Uganda Airlines

It is mandatory that you fly Uganda Airlines if you are a civil servant, public official, minister, permanent secretary, commissioner, or any other government official whose travel is supported or facilitated by government and where the route you are taking has Uganda Airline flying there," Baryomunsi noted.

The national airline, Uganda Airlines, must be used by all government personnel for official international travel as long as the airline serves the destination, according to a decision from the Ugandan Cabinet.

All government employees are now required by a new direction from Cabinet to always fly with Uganda Airlines when they are traveling overseas.
The rule would apply to trips to locations where the national carrier flies, says Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, Minister for ICT and National Guidance.
Government personnel will now be required to fly with Uganda Airlines whenever the state airline is operating. You can be pardoned unless Uganda Airlines doesn’t offer a route to your location, Dr. Baryomunsi added.

He issued a warning to accounting officials, government organizations, and departments, advising them to make sure they follow the new instruction.

Even though the same instructions had been given before, the minister said that several officials continued to fly on airlines other than Uganda Airlines. But he insisted that this time, the order had to be followed exactly as stated.
After being liquidated more than 20 years ago, Uganda Airlines was re-launched in 2019 and has since aimed to rule the African skies.
The national airline of Uganda operates a fleet of six aircraft, including four 72-seat Mitsubishi CRJ-900s and two Airbus A330Neos with a capacity of 257 passengers each.
Nairobi, Mombasa, Mogadishu, Bujumbura, Dar es Salaam, Dubai, Johannesburg, Juba, Kilimanjaro, Kinshasa, and Zanzibar are just a few of the places Uganda Airlines flies to.
The airline is shortly anticipated to begin service, among other places, to Mumbai, London, and Guangzhou.
